SKILLcard is a type of CSCS card specifically designed for the heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration industry. All our engineers hold the relevant skill card concerning their qualifications which improves overall health and safety on-site by ensuring our engineers have the correct qualifications for the job that they do.
IPAF stands for ‘International Powered Access Federation’ and covers the safe use of powered access equipment; all NWCS engineers have obtained the IPAF qualification meaning they can use mobile elevating work platforms safely and efficiently when needed on-site.
Brazing is an essential skill needed within the HVAC industry as it allows connections from refrigerant pipework to be made to the equipment when installing or repairing HVAC systems and is one of the best methods of making leak-proof connections. Due to the importance of this skill within our industry, NWCS engineers all hold City and Guild’s brazing qualifications to ensure that they can safely braze to a high standard.
All NWCS engineers complete UKATA asbestos awareness training yearly. This training ensures that our engineers can confidently identify asbestos if they were to come across it on site and take the correct course of action in getting it removed/containing it safely and quickly.
Our senior engineers hold the SMSTS qualification which means that they are qualified to manage and implement safety systems on the site that they are working on.
Our engineers and junior engineers hold the SSSTS qualification which is designed to give them the skills needed to ensure compliance with these safety systems.
All of our lead engineers are First Aid Trained. This is not a requirement by law but a requirement we like to instil within NWCS as the safety of our engineers and others when working on-site is paramount. This training has taught our engineers a variety of different skills so that they are now able to efficiently deal with any emergencies that may occur on site but also in general life.
All of our engineers are harness trained meaning they can work safely at height by knowing how to use a harness the correct and safe way.
